In my current role as an Occupational therapist, I am responsible for providing screening, evaluations, treatments and discharge plans within the Portsmouth Regional Hospital setting, as well as working at various SNF and LTC facilities. Both of these jobs require the utilization of numerous skills including prompt adaption to new settings, daily schedule flexibility and providing practice that is efficient and effective. Working as a member of an interdisciplinary team, I have utilized clear communication skills, team collaboration and COTA/Rehab Aide supervision in order to ensure best practice is delivered to all patients. This current experience will not only help me transition more quickly in new endeavors but will ensure an immediate contribution to the rehab team.
As a new graduate with just shy of 1-year experience in both inpatient acute and skilled nursing facility settings, I can provide a fresh view of occupational therapy practice while still gaining knowledge and seeking mentorship from experienced therapists. Prior fieldwork experiences have increased my understanding of working with persons who have experienced traumatic brain injuries, strokes, cardiovascular surgeries, and joint replacements as well as children with developmental delays, neurological and physical challenges. While at the University of New Hampshire, I conducted intensive research to determine the effectiveness of various interventions for persons with traumatic brain injury as well as creating play-based interventions for children ages 5-18. Based on my experiences in these areas I am immediately looking to support the values of multiple organizations.
