I recently established the Carolina Sexual Wellness Center, PLLC, in an effort to improved the sexual health and relationship capacity of individuals in the Raleigh-Durham area. Our goal is to provide quality therapy, education and training to all community members. We are currently accepting new clients at our office in Cary, NC. I became passionate about sexual health and wellness when I completed a postdoctoral clinical fellowship at the University of Minnesota's Center for Sexual Health, which has provided me with skills to treat a wide range of psychological and sexuality-related concerns. I am also certified as a sex therapist by the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors and Therapists. The fellowship provided me with invaluable experience doing individual, family, couples and group therapy as well as psychological testing. In addition to general mental health concerns, particular issues with which I have gained experience include relationship and sex therapy, compulsive sexual behaviors, sex offending behavior, and gender identity issues. Many of my clients coped with comorbid psychiatric concerns in addition to sex-related issues.

Matthew Bartolo is a counsellor, and psychotherapist specialising in Sex and Relationships. His background is in psychology (B. Psy(Hons) University of Malta), counselling (Post Grad. Adv. Dip. in Humanistic & Integrative Counseling) CPPD Counselling School, London) and teaching (PGCE (PSD) University of Malta). He is also a qualified Sex & Relationship therapist (MSc in Sexual and Relationship therapy). He is now also supervisor with specialisation in sex and relationship issues. Matthew has presented in international and national conferences. He gives talks about motivation; parenting; sex and sexuality, and more. He has taught and delivered talks to diverse professional organisations about the importance and way of dealing with sex and sexuality with clients / patients. Having worked with a lot of different organisations, he has learnt a lot about life’s challenges and how different people cope. Matthew has worked with asylum seekers, addicts, couples, children, LGBTIQ, and children in homes, amongst others. These people have all taught him a lot about life and what a difference counselling and a positive attitude can make.

He takes sex education very seriously and has written booklets for both parents and children; produced radio and TV programs discussing sex and sexuality. He is a visiting
lecturer on diverse Master level courses in Malta and abroad. His professional, yet informal way of approaching and discussing the subject makes it easy for listeners / viewers / professionals and parents to discuss the topic.
